Even after I tinkered with it, it worked. by WingsI got this in the mail and of course I didn't read the instructions. I read the reviews and knew about the battery compartment under the disc holder. But I had to stick my finger on the lens a couple of times and yank it around. Then I found the battery compartment. After all this I put a cd in and it read "no disc". After man-handling it I wasn't surprised. I read the instructions and it mentioned that some new cd's have a copyright protection on them. I took out the new cd and put an older one in. It plays beautifully in spite of me. I am impressed. And since we don't have too many choices anymore I am happy with it. I walk with it in my pocket and it gets bounced around quite a bit but works perfectly.
