I got this in the mail and of course I didn't read the instructions. I read the reviews and knew about the battery compartment under the disc holder. But I had to stick my finger on the lens a couple of times and yank it around. Then I found the battery compartment. After all this I put a cd in and it read "no disc". After man-handling it I wasn't surprised. I read the instructions and it mentioned that some new cd's have a copyright protection on them. I took out the new cd and put an older one in. It plays beautifully in spite of me. I am impressed. And since we don't have too many choices anymore I am happy with it. I walk with it in my pocket and it gets bounced around quite a bit but works perfectly.

I am not going to get into the technical because everyone else has. The receiver is awesome. Audio/Video HDMI switching is perfect. The Video quality is very very close to Direct connect.



I was looking at this receiver, the Pioneer 1019, the Pioneer Elite (bottom model at Best Buy), and Denon AVR-790. The Denon is tinny. The Pioneer has great picture, a little better than the Onkyo, but the sound is not the same. The Onkyo has more of a rich sound field, and you will get more out of the surround speakers with the Onkyo.



Blu-ray.....................good sound and picture quality.



Cable TV via HDMI...........good sound and picture quality.



Cinematube (Media Player)...good sound and picture quality.



Xbox via HDMI...............good sound and picture quality.



That's right, 4 HDMI inputs, and it also has 2 more for audio only.

Great Subwoofer for the price by Brian Strafuss
There are certainly more powerful and better sounding subwoofers on the market, but you're not likely to find a better one for this price tag. I have a decent audio setup at my house (klipsh reference in the front, polk audio center and surround, attached to a Harmon Kardon receiver) and this subwoofer adds exactly what was missing.The sound produced by this product is crisp and dynamic and is never over or under whelming.



One small thing to bear in mind is that the the "auto" power mode fails to turn the subwoofer on when the rest of the system engages, so you'll have to leave it on at all times, or remember to turn it on and off manually (which would just be a pain. I leave mine on all the time). It's really not a big deal and has not affected my feelings toward this subwoofer in a significant way, but is worth noting. Also, this could be a failure with my receiver and not the subwoofer itself.
