Nice mid-level AVR by Ryan Hamm
I've really been enjoying my 708. It runs cool enough to be fine inside my tv console with the door closed. Another thing I like is it comes with RIHD (disabled by default) which basically means it talks to my Samsung TV that also has RIHD. I can control the AVR volume with my tv remote. The TV automatically turns off it's own speakers and outputs sound to the 708 if the 708 is on. Otherwise, it just uses it's own speakers. Also, if I turn off my tv it automatically turns off the 708 for me.

Networking with Windows 7 was a breeze as well. All I had to do was make sure Windows Media Player allowed the 708 to use it and I was good to go.

Getting internet radio was also easy. I didn't have to do anything special to get it to work. It's nice to be able to listen to net radio without having my computer turned on. vTuner is nice since it has several local stations. I've always loved Pandora and this makes it that much better.

Switching inputs does take a few seconds but that's not really something I care about and wouldn't have really noticed if people hadn't asked about it due to issues with previous Onkyo models.

I use my fat PS3 to watch Blu-Ray movies and they look the same as they did before which is great. It seems to do surround sound just fine through the PS3 as well using Linear PCM. The analog tv signal also looks the same as it did before.

I haven't hooked up my PC through this yet but will get around to it and update my review.

Edit: RIHD has started causing problems. With it enabled I've had times when I would turn on the receiver and get no sound from the speakers. The only things that worked to get sound from the receiver again was to either A)unplug it B) turn off RIHD.

I've also had Pandora lock up the NET/USB input. It would get stuck at 100% buffering. With RIHD on, the only way to get use of the input back was to unplug the receiver and plug it back in. I now have RIHD permanently disable because it's just not worth the hassle.

I've now hooked up my PC through the optical input and it sounds great. The HDMI input is worthless though. My video card outputs to the 16 x 9 resolution my HDTV uses but the 708 is still scaling it to a 16 x 10 ratio which makes the tv cut off some of the top and bottom of the screen. I just went ahead and plugged the computer video back into the tv and only use the 708 for the sound and that works fine.

5 STAR by J. Phillipine
I have to echo the positive comments about this turntable.

After many years of CD collecting, I went through the attic and took my old vinyl, along with my fathers and I have been travelling down memory lane. I borrowed my Dads old Technics turntable that had not been used for years, and it simply sounded awful.

I decided to order this turntable, and it sounds brilliant. I am very pleased with the sound, ease of use, size, and everything about it. The needle has a way of making even the biggest scratches and skips sound mellowed out. Perfect for this old collection.

Because of this turntable, I am ordering some new vinyl!

Love the Harmony one remote!!! by Alvaro E. Solorzano
I bought a Harmony One remote after doing a lot of research. I had been using my DirecTV remote for volume control through my Yamaha receiver, but the functionality ended there. I was able to turn the TV and Satellite box on and off, but my receiver stayed on all the time. Once I got my Harmony One, it took me about 15 minutes to get it programmed the way I wanted. Everything worked seamlessly. The software was even clever enough to recognize that I may have an Ipod dock connected to my receiver and gave me additional steps on how to set it up. That was a pleasant surprise. This is a great remote for a basic system, if you have separate zones, you'll have to look elsewhere. I was so pleased that I bought another one for my bedroom.

Pleasantly surprised by C. Horan
Personally, I've loved these things, they don't sound cheap but rather actually better than many other speakers I've tried, including the pol PSi100's (sp?) and Klipsch B-3. I can't speak for others but these were able to reproduce the full spectrum of sound without overpowering other frequencies.

I've been powering them with a harman kardon 3490 receiver to give more context (great steal for the price). They were able to reproduce both the lows of a bass guitar and the high-pitched symbols of a drummer, without making it muddy or overly bright. This may sound like a "perfect speaker!!!" review, but they really are spectacular. For those who complained about lack of bass, they are rear-ported so placement matters, and your receiver can make a difference. I have them about 2.5 feet from the wall, and let me say that I really did not believe the range they had until I did an A/B comparison with the klipsch. I'll not go on though and go straight to the point.

Pros:

Extremely tight bass

The highs are clearly present without overrepresenting themselves (ala the klipsch).

Reproduces a broad spectrum of detailed sound ranging from highs to lows

Mids not overpowered; speakers neither muddy nor bright

Can handle a good amount of power (by which I mean you can crank them up enough to hear them strongly from 10 feet away)

Small footprint and great design (I don't really care much about this, but put it in as others do).

Cons:

The speakers suffer the limitations inherent in smaller bookshelf speakers.

While they produce detailed sound, it almost feels like the complexities you'd expect from a pricier speaker are there but "trapped" in the small frame.

They are awesome for a small room but should be relegated to rears for a large one. Simply can't get the proper muscle out of this sized speaker.

Highs, specifically symbols, can border on the klipsch brightness that turns people off when listening critically.

-----------

An important issue is how these speakers could be so great yet with their prices slashed and virtually unknown. For one, Jamo has a strong presence outside the US. Go to their website and you'll see they make speakers upwards of $1,000, have a wide selection and are quite professional. They've won awards but not in the states.

The question of pricing is much more of an educated hypothesis than fact. I get the feeling that these speakers are being marked down so much because Jamo is both phasing out the lines they are from (example: the "E" series isn't even on their site) and trying to penetrate into the American market. Its a good opportunity for them to unload their inventory while at the same time building up brand recognition in the US by enticing people with these outrageously large discounts compared to the list value and hoping for positive reactions and word of mouth.

Great product! by maverick
I will start with what's bad and the reason why I gave it 4 stars.I have a Samsung TV and one of the reasons I bought this was so that I could sync all my devices using one remote and the Anynet feature(a Samsung AV network system to automatically control Samsung audio-video devices). This unfortunately has been a slow painful learning process, its working now but there are some unresolved issues (e.g.Anynet sometimes taking a long time to recognize devices). Lastly, I wish the rear speakers were wireless. You do have the option to buy an expensive low rated Samsung wireless receiver to fix the problem.

Now to the good part. This is a 2010 model!!! not 09 not 08:) For the price you get-a home theater+ blu ray+ iPod dock+ FM + internet. Produces a great quality sound that really fills up my small apartment. I love the automatic sound calibration option that sets your speaker sound based on distance. I get crystal clear FM and the iPod dock works great with my iPod Nano. Lets be honest, its hard to get a decent home theater system with all these accessories for close to $400.

Tips:

1)Buy an HDMI and optical audio cable from Amazon (does not come with the unit), some stores charge insane prices.

2)I would highly recommend reading the Anynet guide, just Google Anynet + guide to get it. Will save you a lot of time!

3)The price on the HT C5500 seem to change by $50 in different websites--shop around for the best price.

Zinwell Converter by J. Cruz
I read a few reviews before I purchased. They were good and bad. I had never heard of Zinwell. I can only say that this has worked well for me. I've had no problems what so ever. It set up easily and the product has provided good reception. I may get rid of cable at some point.
